Last year, Flip Mino HD camcorder changed the whole scene by its entry into the mini camcorder market. Now, many companies and camera manufacturers are making attempts to dethrone it. Toshiba's Camileo S10 is a good entry level, ultra thin, HD camcorder. Priced at 181 $ in Asia, it gives tough competition to rival Flip Mino HD.
Toshiba has announced four HD, portable camcorders. All these are ultra compact models and provide a great value for money. They have pocket size designs but still are feature rich. Camileo S10 is their flagship model. The S10 has a ‘pistol grip' design and is the slimmest model of the Camileo range. With it small dimensions, it looks like a deck of playing cards. The S10 has an attractive moonlight blue gloss finish and there is a distinct red tag, a trademark for the Camelio range.
The device is very stylish and is the size of a mobile phone. It offers video shoots at 1080 p resolution and, 5 mega pixel stills are possible from this mini camcorder. These results are impressive as other camcorders in this class do not offer such quality videos. The camcorder has a flip 2.5 inch LCD screen and 4x digital zoom. As Toshiba Camileo S10 has bigger, larger sensors, they can pick up accurate colors and details which other mini camcorders are unable to.

Another aspect working in Camileo's favor is its design. It has a glossy design with brush metal finish. The camcorder is very thin, just 18 mm in thickness. The flip out, 2.5 inch LCD display seems shaky and care has to be taken as it does not look very durable.
Camileo S10 has 128 MB internal memory and can record up to 8 hours of HD footage. But this memory is too less for recording functions, however it is saved from the fact that the device is compatible with external SD card, which expands its storage capability. The camcorder has simple controls which are easily managed even by those who are technologically challenged. Camileo range includes, Toshiba's Night Mode feature which offers good quality in still as well as moving images in dim conditions. Users can shoot high quality videos even in dark environments.
A feature, not there in the Flip Mino HD, is that Toshiba Camileo offers HDMI port which allows users to connect the camcorder to the TV. So you can see the video clips as soon as you shoot them. Toshiba Camelio S10 has been released in Europe and Asia but the US release dates have still not been disclosed.
